On this page Ill try and describe the big events in my life
in brief sort of an over view.
The name is Vincent Shane
but I try and get most folks
to call me Vince; not Vinny;
Born and bred down in the Bronx near Yankee
Stadium;
moved away as a Teenager; then joined the Navy
Now I live in
the Hudson Valley area and work at the Nuclear Power Station everyone loves
to complain about - course I don't see to many folks disconnecting their
houses from the power grid.
Spent a few years living in Alaska, on a small island called
Adak.
Speaking of Islands I also lived down in Guantanamo Bay
Cuba; on the Navy Base for 3 years.
Also lived in Italy a couple of times. Ruvo di Pulgia
and Gaeta (talk about small town).
I have lived in Ohio, Southern California and New York; with
brief stays in Florida and Washington.
I went to a trade school by the Name of Saunders Trades
and Tech when I was in high school, to learn all about the printing trades
and reprographics; only to have computers come along and take over the work
I loved to do.
So I learned computers and electronics and now I get
back at them daily.
I have also worked as a deck hand on a tug boat; was a
small boat Coxswain, Quartermaster; and Signalman all while trying to find
out what I actually wanted to do with my life. When I decided the Navy
wasn't what I wanted; I got out and worked at "real" jobs I am very
proud of the time I spent serving our country; and would not trade a bit of
it Obviously it is not for everyone; but its a good place to start
when you need a bit of direction or want to experience something that takes
you out of your comfort space
I've also worked as a
cement worker; a miner, a driller, a "powder monkey", and Emergency Medical
Technician Then add to that the work I have done in some questionable industries I wouldn't want to
tell my mother about.
The only jobs I think I never wanted to try where being a
Fireman or a Policeman; one is simply way to unpredictable; the other
leaves you at the whims of every bloody loon out on the streets; just not my
cup of tea. Those guys get all my respect.
I have a bushel of hobbies that encompass
almost everything from model railroading, and home brewing; to playing the
concertina and being a modern aged medieval recreationist I also
performed in several local productions such as "You cant take it with You"
and "Man of Lamancha" to a detective in "Mousetrap" Well, I
think that was the name of the play, its hard to remember.
Anyway; if your not bored yet check out some of the local
pages and you will see some pictures; and other junk typical to the flotsam
you find on the web
