My Photo GalleryAdak, Alaska Then there is the tugboat I worked on for almost a year while I was down in GTMO, Cuba. Again these pictures are not mine; I got them from a site all about Navy Tug Boats. If you want to learn more about this subject or see more pictures like these; please check out my links page.
These pictures where taken in 05; about 20 years later. When I walked her decks; she had machine gun placements. Now another facet of a well rounded naval career would not be complete without some time haze gray and under way as the saying goes. Here I give you the U.S.S. Albany,(CG-10); a 1942 vintage heavy cruiser; the Navy decided they could get to carry the latest and greatest missiles on. OF course by the time she was re-commissioned, either the technology was outdated; or wasn't successfully developed for deployment (can you say Cruise missles?). One of 3 that actuay saw commissioning; the rest of the program was dropped due to excessive costs. I last saw her while I was part of the 6th Fleet staff on board during the end of the 70's. She was bigger then anything in the Italian Navy and most of the Churches there. But we rode her all over the med after sailing from Norfolk. Almost 2 years later I went to Adak; but that's another photo set.
